Mas Lasta

"Lasta" means "the last" in Esperanto: her vines are the very last before the Larzac plateau.

An oenologist and agronomist, Anne-Laure Sicard made wine around the world (USA, Niagara, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Uruguay, Château Latour in Pauillac) before settling in Saint-Privat, between Millau and Montpellier. Since 2016 she has been bringing old high-altitude vines back to life, on land once farmed by the monks of the Saint-Michel de Grandmont priory, whose grapes used to go to the local co-op.

Her plots, isolated among garrigue, white oaks, Roquefort sheepfolds and the wolves of the Causse (hence the label drawing), are certified organic, hand-harvested and bottled on favourable lunar days. The wines are made in a natural spirit, with nothing added.

Understand

Organic, biodynamic, natural, HVE: what labels mean

All our estates farm under organic, HVE or biodynamic labels, and some make natural wine. You watch what you eat; do the same with what you drink.

HVE

High Environmental Value

French farm-level certification: biodiversity, water management, fewer treatments.

Organic (AB / EU leaf)

Organic farming

No synthetic pesticides or fertilisers in the vineyard; regulated cellar practices, limited sulphites.

Biodynamics

Living soils, lunar rhythm

Organic, plus natural preparations and a lunar calendar for vineyard work and bottling.

Natural

Natural-method wine

Hand-picked organic grapes, native yeasts, unfined, unfiltered, nothing added, no added sulphites.

Viticulture and winemaking: the Mas Lasta example

Viticulture · in the vineyard
  • Grenache around 80 years old, Syrah, Carignan and Cinsault
  • Warm, free-draining sandstone soils at 400–500 m
  • Naturally isolated by garrigue and pasture: no drift from neighbours
  • Certified organic, no synthetic sprays
  • Hand-picked into 15 kg crates, deliberately low yields
Winemaking · in the cellar
  • Blanc de noirs: direct pressing of black Grenache, so the juice stays pale
  • Pet Nat': ancestral method, bottled mid-fermentation, no added sugar, no disgorging (yeast sediment)
  • Reds: destemmed, gentle 2–3 week maceration, free-run wine only
  • Aged in tank and in older barrels
  • Bottled on favourable lunar days
Discover the region

33 %of French wine

AOP, AOC, IGP, Vin de France

AOP (EU) and AOC (France) guarantee a wine comes from a defined terroir under controlled rules: grapes, yields, methods. IGP: a wider area and more flexible rules. Vin de France: full freedom of grapes and blends, often chosen by creative growers or for styles the appellation doesn't cover.

FAQ
Are the wines only for restaurants?

No, they are for consumers and SAQ licensees of legal drinking age alike.

Why not by the bottle?

The SAQ requires private imports to be sold by the full case.

How do I pay?

The displayed price already includes taxes and agency fees. It is split into two payments: agency fees to Occitani by Interac e-Transfer, then the wine price at the SAQ when collecting your order. Your Interac instructions and reference appear on screen after you submit your cart request.

How do I choose an SAQ store?

Search for your city or postal code in the cart and select a designated private-order store. Occitani confirms the destination when processing your request.

When is my request confirmed?

After Occitani verifies your Interac transfer and availability. Submitting a request does not automatically reserve stock. Then wait for the availability notice before collecting your order.

Can I order outside the website?

Yes, by phone at 438 969-0041 or at info@occitani.com.

Do purchases earn SAQ Inspire points?

No, the SAQ excludes private imports from the programme.

What does "pre-order" mean?

The wine is neither in stock nor in transit: a pre-order reserves your case from the next shipment.

A bottle is faulty?

Returns and defective products are handled exclusively by the SAQ under its applicable conditions. Contact the SAQ to check the procedure and eligibility.

Delivery and returns

Delivery to an SAQ store is free. Home delivery may be available depending on your address; availability and any applicable charges must be confirmed when ordering.

Returns and defective products are handled exclusively by the SAQ, under its applicable conditions. Please contact the SAQ directly to check the procedure and whether your request is eligible.
